TerraMCP helps consultants worldwide find tools and data for water, environment, terrain and civil engineering. We begin with UK hydrology depth and global earth-data coverage, founded by Aegaea.

How quality scores work

Six components sum to 100. Missing evidence earns no credit. Scores support comparison; they do not certify scientific validity or project suitability. Featured placement and verification do not change scores.

trust 25 points

Identified authoritative provider: 15. Evidenced licence: 10. A community wrapper is not an official data publisher.

maintenance 20 points

Commit age ≤30 days: 20; ≤90: 16; ≤180: 12; ≤365: 6; otherwise: 0. Data APIs without repositories earn 0 maintenance points from page checks; a verified upstream update timestamp is required. Archived repos: 0.

usability 15 points

Useful description: 5. Known authentication requirements: 5. Documentation URL: 5.

live health 15 points

Public page HTTP check: 2xx earns 15; 401, 403 or 429 earns 5; other errors or timeouts earn 0. Does not test tools or data accuracy.

adoption 15 points

GitHub stars: min(15, round(5 × log10(1 + stars))). Unknown counts earn 0; this favours repositories with measurable adoption.

consultancy fit 10 points

Hydrology, flood or terrain category: 10. Other curated environment, climate or GIS category: 8. Category assignment is editorial.

Currency: A–E

A ≤30 days; B ≤90; C ≤180; D ≤365; E older or unknown. Repositories use the last actual commit. Other sources use the last successful page check (data APIs without a verified upstream update are capped at C). This is maintenance or availability currency, not the freshness of a dataset. A failed check does not erase the previous successful timestamp.

Curation & independence

Daily automation proposes candidates and refreshes metadata. Human review decides publication. Unknown licence, authentication and activity stay unknown. Source pages show evidence URLs and observation dates. Aegaea integrations are coming-soon placeholders and excluded from rankings. Verified status is reserved for a documented editorial review; v1 seed entries have not received it.

Use https://terramcp.earth/mcp with a Streamable HTTP client after deployment. No account required. Five read-only tools: search_sources, get_source, list_categories, top_sources and get_consultant. The endpoint discovers sources and their provenance.
