Aquifer Properties, Database Of Physical Properties Of Aquifers In England And Wales.
Data on the physical properties (transmissivity, storage coefficient, porosity and permeability) of aquifers in England and Wales. Compiled by BGS staff from paper records of field and laboratory testing held by BGS, the Environment Agency and other organisations. Contains summary data on approximately 20,000 pump tests at over 2000 discrete locations. Raw data may be available on request. The majority of BGS and EA pump test data is included for both major and minor aquifers, but in minor aquif

Useful for
- Use cases llm-inferred
- Aquifer transmissivity and storage inputs for groundwater abstraction or dewatering feasibility screening · Hydrogeological desk study parameters for foundation, cut-off wall or excavation design · Regional aquifer property context for water resources and flood risk assessments
- Audience llm-inferred
- hydrogeologists · geotechnical engineers · water resources consultants · environmental consultants
Limitations
- Constraints docs-verified
- Summary data only (about 20,000 pump tests at over 2000 locations); raw data may be available on request · Porosity and permeability laboratory determinations are limited to open file BGS data · Minor aquifers are complemented by specific yield data rather than full pump test coverage · Raw data is highly variable and compiled from paper records · Reuse restricted by NERC copyright; supplied at user's own risk with no warranty of accuracy or suitability · Update frequency is irregular
