Connect TerraMCP

Find water, environmental, terrain and civil engineering sources from your AI assistant. TerraMCP is a discovery MCP: it searches the directory and retrieves source evidence and provenance. No account required.

Five read-only tools are available: search_sources, get_source, list_categories, top_sources and get_consultant. Connecting does not grant access to every upstream service; check each listing for its access requirements.

Claude Desktop

Use this mcpServers entry in claude_desktop_config.json if your version supports remote URL configuration. Merge it with any existing servers, then restart the client. If your version uses a remote connector settings screen, add the URL there instead.

Claude Code

Run the CLI command once; user scope is recommended for discovery. Alternatively, merge the JSON below into .mcp.json or ~/.claude.json. Claude Code requires "type": "http" (or "streamable-http") for URL servers; a URL-only entry is skipped.

Cursor

Add this entry to .cursor/mcp.json in your project, or to your global mcp.json. Merge it with any existing servers, then enable TerraMCP in your MCP settings.

VS Code

Add this configuration to .vscode/mcp.json, which uses top-level servers. For a portable workspace-root .mcp.json, use mcpServers instead of servers. Merge with any existing servers.

Windsurf

Open the Cascade MCP config (mcp_config.json, typically under ~/.codeium/windsurf/ or the Devin config directory) and add this entry. Windsurf remote HTTP uses serverUrl. Refresh the MCP panel after saving.

Generic / raw Streamable HTTP

In a client that supports remote MCP servers, select Streamable HTTP and paste this server URL. No API key or TerraMCP account is required.

Try your first discovery

Ask your assistant to search TerraMCP for sources for a flood risk assessment, then retrieve a source to review its evidence. You can also browse the directory or use the source picker.
