ArcticDEM

ArcticDEM - 2m GSD Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) and mosaics from 2007 to the present. The ArcticDEM project seeks to fill the need for high-resolution time-series elevation data in the Arctic. The time-dependent nature of the strip DEM files allows users to perform change detection analysis and to compare observations of topography data acquired in different seasons or years. The mosaic DEM tiles are assembled from multiple strip DEMs with the intention of providing a more consistent and comp

Useful for

Use cases llm-inferred
Multi-date elevation change detection (surface change, erosion or settlement) from dated strip DEMs for Arctic or high-latitude sites · Terrain baseline for remote Arctic site investigations or infrastructure feasibility where no local survey exists · Seasonal or annual topography comparison to support ground-movement or glacier-related risk screening
Audience llm-inferred
GIS analysts · geotechnical engineers · hydrologists · environmental consultants

Limitations

Constraints llm-inferred
Coverage is Arctic per the docs; not relevant to UK sites despite the 'Global' region tag in the entry metadata · Strips are added only twice yearly, so the most recent terrain may lag · Source imagery is commercial (Maxar), which may matter for licence-sensitive reuse of derived products · Requires familiarity with strip versus mosaic products and STAC/COG tooling
