CLMS VLCC Crop Types (CTY) Europe 10m yearly V1 (COG)

The Crop Types (CTY) dataset maps the specific crop type grown during the main growing season for all pixels identified as arable or permanent cropland by the Base Vegetation Layer (BVL). It is the primary layer of the HRL Croplands product suite. The classification covers 18 crop types grouped into arable crops (cereals, dry pulses & vegetables, root/tuber crops, non-permanent industrial crops) and permanent crops (grapes, olives, fruits, nuts), as well as unclassified arable and permanent crop

Useful for

Use cases llm-inferred
Agricultural land-use baseline for EIA or ecological appraisal of arable and permanent cropland sites · Crop-type context for runoff and drainage assumptions on cropland in SuDS or flood risk work across EEA-38 sites · Constraint mapping for civils earthworks or site selection on arable versus permanent crop land
Audience llm-inferred
environmental consultants · ecologists · hydrologists · flood consultants · GIS analysts · planners

Limitations

Constraints llm-inferred
Proprietary licence; check the Copernicus Land Monitoring Service data policy before commercial reuse · Only pixels identified as arable or permanent cropland by the Base Vegetation Layer are classified · Coverage is the EEA-38 region; the docs do not state coverage beyond it · Data is delivered in 100 x 100 km tiles, so larger areas need mosaicking · Downloads require Copernicus Data Space OIDC or S3 credentials; CREODIAS S3 is requester-pays · Classification is for the main growing season only, so it does not capture intra-year crop changes
