CLMS VLCC Tree Cover Density (TCD) Europe 10m yearly V1 (COG)

The High Resolution Layer Tree Cover Density (TCD) dataset provides information on the proportional crown coverage per pixel at 10 meter spatial resolution and ranges from 0% (all non-tree covered areas) to 100%, whereby Tree Cover Density is defined as the "vertical projection of tree crowns to a horizontal earth’s surface\“. This dataset is provided annually starting with 2018 in 10 meter rasters (fully conformant with the EEA reference grid) in 100 x 100 km tiles covering the EEA38 countries.

Useful for

Use cases llm-inferred
Canopy cover baseline for BNG habitat or woodland mapping across a site · Screening tree cover along a river corridor or slope for planning or ecological constraints · Canopy interception inputs for drainage or runoff assessments
Audience llm-inferred
ecologists · GIS analysts · planners · environmental consultants

Limitations

Constraints llm-inferred
Proprietary licence: check the Copernicus Land Monitoring Service Data Policy before reuse or redistribution · Coverage is EEA38 countries only; the UK is not listed in the docs · Delivered as 100 x 100 km tiles, so sites crossing tile boundaries need mosaicking · Single band (tcd) only, with no species or height information · Access needs CDSE OIDC credentials or S3 keys; CREODIAS S3 is requester-pays
