EPA Dynamically Downscaled Ensemble (EDDE) Version 1

The data are a subset of the EPA Dynamically Downscaled Ensemble (EDDE), Version 1. EDDE is a collection of physics-based modeled data that represent 3D atmospheric conditions for historical and future periods under different scenarios. The EDDE Version 1 datasets cover the contiguous United States at a horizontal grid spacing of 36 kilometers at hourly increments. EDDE Version 1 includes simulations that have been dynamically downscaled from multiple global climate models (GCMs) under both mid-

Useful for

Use cases llm-inferred
Climate-change scenario inputs for drainage or flood-risk sensitivity studies (RCP8.5, CESM/CM3) · Hourly temperature, humidity and precipitation context for heat-stress or drought assessments in US projects · Historical-period (1995-2005) model output for checking downscaled climate baselines
Audience llm-inferred
climate risk consultants · hydrologists · drainage engineers · environmental scientists · GIS analysts

Limitations

Constraints llm-inferred
36 km grid is coarse for small catchments and site-scale civils work · Contiguous US only; no UK coverage · Only two driving GCMs (CESM, GFDL CM3); some scenarios available from CESM only · Last update stated as January 2025, which is behind the quarterly update frequency · netCDF data requires scientific tooling; S3 bucket access only, no API or MCP tools
