EPA Dynamically Downscaled Ensemble (EDDE) Version 2

The data are a subset of the EPA Dynamically Downscaled Ensemble (EDDE), Version 2. EDDE is a collection of physics-based modeled data that represent 3D atmospheric conditions for historical and future periods under different scenarios. The EDDE Version 2 datasets cover the contiguous United States at a horizontal grid spacing of 12 kilometers at hourly increments. EDDE Version 2 includes simulations that have been dynamically downscaled from multiple global climate models (GCMs) under multiple

Useful for

Use cases llm-inferred
Historical 1985-2014 baseline climate conditions for a US site assessment · Future precipitation and temperature scenario comparison (SSP2-4.5 vs SSP3-7.0, 2025-2100) for US projects · Hourly near-surface temperature and humidity inputs for US heat-stress or evaporation analysis · Climate-change context for US environmental impact or resilience studies
Audience llm-inferred
climate scientists · hydrologists · environmental consultants · GIS analysts · atmospheric modellers

Limitations

Constraints llm-inferred
Contiguous United States only; no UK coverage · Two GCMs only (MPI-ESM1-2-HR, NorESM2-MM) and two SSP scenarios · Future period limited to 2025-2100 · Quarterly updates, not near-real-time · Requires netCDF/CF-aware tooling; no query API, bulk file access only
