Flood Map for Planning – Surface Water Spatial Planning Depths – Present Day

The Flood Map for Planning Service includes several layers of information. This includes Surface Water Spatial Planning Depths. These datasets show the extent of land at risk of flooding from surface water to a defined depth band for a defined annual exceedance probability (AEP), or chance of flooding each year. These datasets include the following probability scenarios: ● 0.1% AEP (1 in 1000) ● 1% AEP (1 in 100) ● 3.3% AEP (1 in 30) And the following depth bands: ● Up to 150mm ● 150 – 300mm ● 3

Useful for

Use cases llm-inferred
surface water flood screening for site-level flood risk assessments in England · drainage strategy constraint mapping using the 1% AEP depth bands · planning-stage surface water risk screening for development allocation sites · extreme-event screening using the 0.1% AEP layer
Audience llm-inferred
flood consultants · drainage engineers · hydrologists · planners · GIS analysts

Limitations

Constraints docs-verified
indicative only: shows flood risk to an area of land, not whether an individual property is at risk · not suitable for property-level flood checks · users must check suitability for their intended use
