GeoSure landslides (slope instability) version 8

This dataset provides an assessment of slope instability. Landslide hazard occurs due to particular slope characteristics (such as geology, gradient, sources of water, drainage, man-made constructions) combining to cause the slope to become unstable. Downslope movement of materials, such as a landslide or rockfall may lead to a loss of support and damage to buildings. Complete Great Britain national coverage is available. The storage formats of the data are ESRI Shapefiles and MapInfo but other

Useful for

Use cases llm-inferred
Screening a development site for slope instability and landslide hazard in planning or due diligence · Ground-risk context for assessing possible building damage from downslope movement · Identifying likely causes of subsidence or ground movement when reviewing a site
Audience llm-inferred
geotechnical engineers · civils engineers · planners · environmental consultants · GIS analysts

Limitations

Constraints llm-inferred
No warranty as to quality, accuracy or suitability for any use (NERC/BGS) · Use by customers is at their own risk · Based on BGS Geology digital map and expert knowledge of formation behaviour, so it is a regional assessment rather than a site investigation · Dataset reference date is 2017-07, so currency for the site should be checked · Reuse and redistribution require prior permission from the copyright holder
