Integrated WB & CAMS AP sub-catchments

The Integrated water body (WB) layer covers England and breaks it down into manageable areas from which we can monitor water resource availability. Each water body is either a Water Framework Directive (WFD) water body or a Water Resources Geographical Information System (WRGIS) water body. WRGIS water bodies are a combination of WFD water bodies and additional Assessment Points (AP). Attribution statement: © Environment Agency copyright and/or database right 2015. All rights reserved.

Useful for

Use cases llm-inferred
Screening which WFD or WRGIS water body and AP sub-catchment a site or abstraction falls within for water resource availability checks · Assigning catchment units to site locations for water resources or abstraction licensing assessments in GIS · Building England-wide sub-catchment boundary layers as the spatial framework for catchment-scale reporting
Audience llm-inferred
GIS analysts · hydrologists · water resources engineers · environmental consultants · planners

Limitations

Constraints llm-inferred
England only · Update frequency is as needed, with no fixed schedule · Units mix WFD water bodies with additional Assessment Points, so not every unit is a WFD water body · Attribution statement (© Environment Agency, 2015) must be retained · Dataset reference dates (creation 2009, revision 2025) are not a time series; temporal coverage is not stated
