Met Office Blended Probabilistic Forecast – UK gridded percentiles
This product provides gridded percentile weather forecasts. The grid resolution is approximately 2km and covers the UK and parts of Western Europe. It is produced by the Met Office IMPROVER Blended Probabilistic Forecast system. It is available in NetCDF format. Blended Probabilistic Forecast data is derived from the Met Office's operational NWP (Numerical Weather Prediction) ensembles and nowcasts. To give more reliable predictions, these are then blended and calibrated using the IMPROVER pipel

Useful for
- Use cases llm-inferred
- Uncertainty ranges (5th/50th/95th percentiles) for temperature and wind inputs to site works and earthworks weather-window planning · Weather-related risk threshold screening for construction or environmental monitoring programmes · Deriving a deterministic 50th-percentile temperature series from probabilistic forecasts for consultancy reporting
- Audience llm-inferred
- hydrologists · drainage engineers · civils project planners · environmental consultants · GIS analysts
Limitations
- Constraints docs-verified
- Precipitation percentiles are hard to interpret; high and low percentiles give spatially unrealistic rain extents · Archive limited to the past 30 days · Non-operational service; support enquiries answered within 3-5 business days · Parameters, sites and timesteps may change; info stated as correct as of April 2026
