Mining hazard (not including coal) 1km hex grid version 7
The 1km Hex Mining Hazard (Not Including Coal) v7 dataset shows areas of known underground mining (Not Including Coal), identified with an indication of the level of hazard associated for each site. The presence of former underground workings, particularly where shallow, may collapse and cause surface settlement which is used to identify potential hazard at each site. The rating is based on a Low (limited mining known to have occurred) to High (underground mining is known to have occurred) scale

Useful for
- Use cases llm-inferred
- Mining legacy desk study screening for development sites in Great Britain · Scoping whether intrusive ground investigation is needed for shallow mining risk · Property due diligence and mining hazard screening for conveyancing · Mapping mining-related land constraints for local plan and planning application support
- Audience llm-inferred
- geotechnical engineers · civils engineers · planners · GIS analysts · property due diligence consultants
Limitations
- Constraints docs-verified
- Not comprehensive: areas with no evidence of underground working are unclassified · Excludes coal mining (dataset name specifies 'Not Including Coal') · Hex grid is a generalisation of the original v7 dataset, so site-level detail is reduced · Docs describe coverage as Great Britain; the entry lists United Kingdom · No scheduled updates (update frequency not planned) · Copyright restrictions on reproduction; use is at the customer's own risk; no warranty given
