Mining Hazard (not including coal) in Great Britain for Sustainable Underground Drainage
The dataset uses the outline of the mining hazard not including coal in Great Britain data but has been re-attributed to reflect the potential affect of underground drainage. It excludes areas of Coal mining as these are covered by the Coal Authority and therefore are not included in this dataset. It has been reattributed from the A-E rating scale indicating the increasing likelihood of an underground mining hazard to a 1-4 scale identifying the likelihood of susceptibility to infiltration. What's in it
- Data offered docs-verified
- mining hazard polygons (excluding coal) re-attributed for infiltration susceptibility · infiltration susceptibility rating on a 1-4 scale
- Coverage docs-verified
- Great Britain
- Update frequency docs-verified
- irregular
- Access docs-verified
- Download via data.gov.uk with no authentication listed; licence field shown as 'Not set'; BGS/NERC access constraints apply, and reproduction needs the copyright holder's prior permission
Useful for
- Use cases llm-inferred
- SuDS infiltration feasibility screening for sites in mining-hazard areas · Desk-study constraints mapping for soakaway or infiltration drainage design in Great Britain · Identifying where coal-excluded mining hazards may affect underground drainage strategy
- Audience llm-inferred
- drainage engineers · geotechnical engineers · hydrologists · GIS analysts · planners
Limitations
- Constraints docs-verified
- excludes coal mining areas, which are covered by the Coal Authority · re-attributed polygons were created using expert knowledge rather than measured infiltration data · update frequency is irregular, so the dataset may not reflect current conditions · BGS/NERC gives no warranty on accuracy or suitability and accepts no liability; use is at the customer's own risk
