National Real Time Water Quality Data
Real time water quality data is collected using equipment provided by the National Water Quality Instrumentation Service and is deployed by area teams within the Environment Agency. The link provides access to a map of active water quality monitoring stations and a live graphical display of the data collected. Each site takes regular measurements of a suit of parameters including temperature, conductivity, pH, turbidity, ammonium, dissolved oxygen, chlorophyll and nitrate. Attribution statement:

Useful for
- Use cases llm-inferred
- Pre-application water quality baseline for a watercourse receiving a discharge, using the nearest active station · Checking ammonium, nitrate and dissolved oxygen conditions at a nearby station during drainage or outfall consultation · Context for WFD or EIA water quality chapters where live readings from a nearby site are needed
- Audience llm-inferred
- environmental consultants · hydrologists · water quality scientists · ecologists · drainage engineers
Limitations
- Constraints llm-inferred
- Covers only active monitoring stations, so the network is not complete and sites may come and go · Live display is documented; no historic bulk download, API or machine-readable data format is stated in the docs · Measurement frequency per site is described only as regular, so temporal resolution is unspecified · Attribution statement must be used, and the ENTRY attribution text is truncated
