Permeability Dataset for Great Britain (Artificial Deposits)
The data comprises GIS layers representing the permeability of artificial deposits for Great Britain. The permeability data has been derived from DiGMap-GB (Digital Geological Map Data of Great Britain), and therefore reflects the scale of DiGMap-GB. For the majority of the Great Britain, the scale is 1:50,000. The data is updated annually, or after a major new release of DiGMap-GB. The permeability data describes the fresh water flow through these deposits and the ability of a lithostratigraphi

Useful for
- Use cases llm-inferred
- Infiltration and SuDS suitability screening from permeability of made ground and superficial deposits · Groundwater pollutant pathway screening in a desk study · Ground-conditions overlay for drainage or foundation risk in GIS
- Audience llm-inferred
- hydrogeologists · geotechnical engineers · drainage engineers · GIS analysts
Limitations
- Constraints llm-inferred
- Scale is 1:50,000 for most of Great Britain; scale elsewhere is not stated · Permeability indices ignore unsaturated and saturated thickness of each unit · Metadata extent (lat 51.64 to 53.49, lon -2.00 to 1.84) is much smaller than Great Britain; verify coverage before use · Commercial use is licensed and reproduction needs prior NERC/BGS permission · Best displayed in a desktop GIS · Reference date of the source dataset is 2005-07-29
