RGE ALTI: IGN RGE ALTI Digital Elevation 1m

The RGE ALTI dataset describes the digital elevation model (DEM) of France with the pixel size of 1m. It was created from surveys obtained by airborne lidar or by correlation of aerial images. Lidar was deployed for flood-prone, coastal, and large forest areas. The vertical accuracy of the DEM in these areas is between 0.2m and 0.5m. Radar was used in mountain areas (Alps, Pyrenees, Cevennes, Corsica). Caution: in areas with steep slopes, the average vertical accuracy is the order of 7m. The acc

Useful for

Use cases llm-inferred
Flood-risk overland flow path and ponding analysis on 1m DEM for French sites · Drainage strategy catchment delineation for French project areas · Earthworks cut/fill and slope baseline from 1m terrain for French civils projects
Audience llm-inferred
flood consultants · drainage engineers · civils engineers · hydrologists · GIS analysts

Limitations

Constraints docs-verified
Coverage is metropolitan France only; not applicable to UK sites · Vertical accuracy is roughly 7 m on steep slopes · Wooded areas in correlation zones are filled with older 1987-2001 altimetry data (0.5-0.7 m accuracy) · Time span ends 2021-01-01, so the elevation model is not current · Requires Earth Engine access and registration
