Risk of Flooding from Rivers and Sea - Climate Change 1
Risk of Flooding from Rivers and the Sea (RoFRS) shows the chance of flooding from rivers and the sea taking into account the presence and condition of flood defences. It is our main way of communicating flood risk from rivers and sea to the public through our ‘Check Your Long Term Flood Risk’ service on gov.uk. Climate change scenarios have been produced for this dataset to indicate the predicted impacts of climate change on future risk. While flood defences reduce the level of risk they do not

What's in it
- Data offered docs-verified
- flood likelihood from rivers and sea, taking account of flood defences · climate change scenario risk (predicted future impacts) · likelihood of flooding at depths 0.2m, 0.3m, 0.6m, 0.9m, 1.2m · four likelihood bands: High, Medium, Low, Very Low
- Coverage llm-inferred
- England (publisher: Environment Agency; metadata extent 49.943° to 55.816° N, 6.236° W to 2.072° E) · Climate change scenarios: 2050s epoch (2040-2069) for rivers; sea level rise to 2065 for sea
- Update frequency docs-verified
- As needed (metadata: Frequency of update asNeeded)
- Formats docs-verified
- WMS · LYR (layer file) · PDF (product description)

Useful for
- Use cases llm-inferred
- Future flood risk screening for development sites using climate-change likelihood bands · Climate-change context for flood risk assessments (FRA) and sequential test evidence · Identifying residual flood risk behind defences for drainage and land-use planning
- Audience llm-inferred
- flood consultants · drainage engineers · planners · GIS analysts · hydrologists
Limitations
- Constraints llm-inferred
- probabilistic product: shows overall risk, not risk for a specific event or scenario · residual risk behind flood defences is shown, but defences can be overtopped, fail or be in poor condition · preview available only on certain zoom levels; WMS set to 1:50 000 scale and visible from that scale range · climate allowances fixed to those chosen by the publisher (Central for rivers, Higher Central for sea) · download format for the area-of-interest data is not stated in the docs
