Wellmaster Hydrogeological database

The WellMaster database holds hydrogeological information on water wells for wells and boreholes identified within the Single Onshore Borehole Index (SOBI) within England Wales and Scotland. The database contains index details supplementary to SOBI, including information on the availability of more detailed hydrogeological information. Four main categories of data are held within the database; lithostratigraphic details, well/borehole construction including casing and screens, water information

Useful for

Use cases llm-inferred
Desk study context for ground investigations: borehole construction and lithology lookup near a site · Groundwater baseline: well depths, yields and pumping rates within a catchment · Dewatering or water-supply feasibility screening using historic pumping-rate records
Audience llm-inferred
hydrogeologists · geotechnical engineers · civils engineers · environmental consultants · GIS analysts

Limitations

Constraints llm-inferred
Index-level supplementary database; more detailed hydrogeological information may need to be obtained separately · No warranty as to quality or accuracy of information; BGS/NERC accepts no liability · Dataset reference date (creation) is 1998, so records may be historic · No API or tool access listed; data is accessed as a dataset download or web view
