Gridded simulations of available precipitation (rainfall + snowmelt) for Great Britain, developed from observed data (1961-2018) and climate projections (1980-2

This dataset presents nationally consistent simulations of available precipitation (rainfall + snowmelt) for Great Britain. These include simulations driven by observational data covering January 1961 – December 2018 and simulations driven by Regional Climate Model (RCM) projections covering December 1980 - November 2080. Both are provided as gridded data at 1km resolution. The observed input data was HadUK-Grid 1km daily precipitation and temperature. The RCM input data was a 12-member perturbe

Useful for

Use cases llm-inferred
Catchment-scale historical available-precipitation series for water balance and rainfall-runoff model inputs · Future climate rainfall and snowmelt input scenarios (1980–2080) for drainage or water resources options appraisal · Gridded rainfall-plus-snowmelt inputs for FRA climate-change sensitivity checks
Audience llm-inferred
hydrologists · flood consultants · drainage engineers · water resources engineers · climate risk analysts

Limitations

Constraints docs-verified
Future projections come from a 12-member RCM ensemble downscaled from 12 km to 1 km; uncertainty must be considered · RCM precipitation bias correction uses a simple monthly-mean approach · Snowmelt is represented by a simple snowmelt module · Temporal extent metadata (1980-01-01 to 2080-12-31) differs slightly from the description's RCM period (December 1980 – November 2080) · Scripted download requires a personal access token
