Land Cover Map 2025 (LCM2025)

Land Cover Map 2025 (LCM2025) is a suite of datasets (raster, vector and csv) describing the UK land surface in 2025. They were produced at the UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology by classifying satellite images from 2025. LCM2025 includes 8 datasets: - Two 10 m classified pixel datasets (raster data), each classified to create a single mosaic of national land cover for Great Britain and Northern Ireland. - Two land parcel datasets (vector data) which are the result of intersecting each 10 m class

Access llm-inferred
Non-Open government licence (per catalogue metadata); no authentication recorded

Useful for

Use cases llm-inferred
Baseline land cover classes for drainage and runoff assessments in FRA or SuDS work · Land cover statistics for catchment or site area summaries in water resources reporting · 1 km regional land cover screening for environmental impact or planning constraints · Cross-checking habitat baselines for BNG assessments against parcel-level land cover
Audience llm-inferred
hydrologists · drainage engineers · ecologists · GIS analysts · planners

Limitations

Constraints llm-inferred
Non-Open government licence: check reuse terms before commercial or client deliverables · No update frequency stated, so currency for a given project date is unclear · Pixel and mosaic products cover Great Britain and Northern Ireland only · Classification is from 2025 satellite imagery, so it will not reflect later land use change
