What's in it
- Data offered docs-verified
- river water level (gauging stations) · 24-hour rainfall (mm) · river level status (normal / alert / minor flood / major flood, rising or falling) · colour-coded flood warnings by river basin
- Coverage llm-inferred
- Sri Lanka · October 2025 (sample reports dated 19-20 Oct 2025 in the excerpt)
- Resolution llm-inferred
- Gauging-station point readings; temporal interval not stated
- Formats docs-verified
- parquet
- Access llm-inferred
- Public Hugging Face dataset; no licence stated (ENTRY licence is null) and no API key required
Useful for
- Use cases llm-inferred
- Antecedent conditions review: recent gauge levels and 24-hr rainfall for South Asian river basin studies · Benchmarking alert and flood-level thresholds across basins for comparative flood-risk assessment · Building a labelled flood-warning and gauge-level corpus for hydrological data-science prototyping
- Audience llm-inferred
- hydrologists · flood consultants · water-resources analysts · GIS analysts · data scientists
Limitations
- Constraints llm-inferred
- Covers Sri Lanka only, not UK; ENTRY regions field says 'Global' and should be corrected · Records are text extracted from PDF bulletins, chunked for search; table columns need reconstruction and parsing · Bilingual (Sinhala/English) and OCR-style noise in chunk text · Snapshot-style sample (about 1K-10K rows); no stated temporal interval or full historical span · No licence stated; upstream source is Sri Lanka Irrigation Dept / Disaster Management Centre reports, so reuse terms need checking
