Data offered docs-verified: argo · l3_ssh · l3_swot
Coverage llm-inferred: Global ocean, split into 8 regions: NORTH_ATLANTIC, NORTH_INDIAN, NORTH_PACIFIC_EAST, NORTH_PACIFIC_WEST, SOUTH_ATLANTIC, SOUTH_INDIAN, SOUTH_PACIFIC_EAST, SOUTH_PACIFIC_WEST · From 2023-03-29; end date not stated (date_index 0-857 suggests roughly 2025-08)
Resolution llm-inferred: Daily (inferred: one date_index per consecutive calendar day); spatial resolution not stated
Formats llm-inferred: NetCDF (.nc files) · Parquet (Hugging Face dataset viewer auto-conversion)
Access docs-verified: Free, open access under CC-BY-4.0 licence; no authentication listed

Use cases llm-inferred: Benchmark or train machine-learning models on global sea-surface-height data for research or method-development pilots · Compare L3 SSH and L3 SWOT sea-surface-height products over the same ocean regions and dates · Use Argo float records as an ocean-context reference alongside satellite SSH for coastal or ocean modelling research
Audience llm-inferred: ML and data-science researchers · oceanographers · coastal and ocean modellers · GIS and remote-sensing analysts

Constraints llm-inferred: Global ocean dataset with no UK or inland catchment coverage, so of limited direct relevance to UK water, civils or drainage work · Ocean variables only; no rainfall, river level, flow or groundwater data · Very large (67M rows) and split into train/test for ML use, which may need significant compute · uri fields point to an HPC filesystem path, so direct download of the underlying files via this dataset page is unverified · status column has two classes, so some listed assets may not be present · Source-product licences for Argo and SWOT data are not described in the card
