SCO2FLUX Network Carbon dioxide and methane fluxes with associated environmental observations

SCO2FLUX is a network of sites across Scotland monitoring greenhouse gas exchange and associated meteorological and pedological variables. The majority of sites are eddy-covariance flux towers on peat soils but there is also a tower on an agricultural mineral soil and chamber measurements on a river bank with mineral soil. All sites record basic meteorological variables such as air temperature, relative humidity and incoming total solar radiation. The data are reported at half-hourly intervals a

Useful for

Use cases llm-inferred
Peatland restoration or drainage-impact greenhouse gas baseline for Scottish upland EIA and ecology assessments · Net carbon balance inputs for land-use change or forestry-on-peat assessments · Site-specific meteorological reference series for upland micro-climate checks
Audience llm-inferred

Limitations

Constraints llm-inferred
Network is predominantly peat-soil sites; only one mineral-soil tower and river-bank chambers are included · Eddy-covariance series are gap-filled, so modelled values are mixed with measurements · Data are point measurements at individual sites; no regional grid or mapped product is described · Listed datasets span 2016-2017 and 2016-2022 only; later periods are not indicated · Non-Open Government Licence, so reuse terms may restrict use
